Global @ Berkeley

Responsibility for UC Berkeley's global programs, activities and services is found in a number of different administrative offices and campus units. Here is a guide to these offices and their charges.


Administrative Offices

Global Engagement Office

The Global Engagement Office (GEO) is charged with facilitating and coordinating UC Berkeley's various international programs and activities. 

Berkeley International Office

The Berkeley International Office (BIO) provides advising, immigration services, advocacy and programming for UC Berkeley's international students and scholars. 

International Relations Office

The International Relations Office coordinates international fundraising for the campus with a particular focus on leadership and major gifts from the Asia-Pacific Region and manages the Chancellor's international travel. The International Relations Office also coordinates and manages the university's international alumni clubs. 

Berkeley Study Abroad

Berkeley Study Abroad administers UC Berkeley's Study Abroad Program. 

Visiting Scholar and Postdoc Affairs Office

The Visiting Scholar and Postdoc Affairs Office (VSPA) provides administrative services and advising to UC Berkeley's Visiting Scholars, Visiting Student Researchers and Postdocs.

Summer Sessions

Summer Sessions welcomes thousands of international students to the UC Berkeley campus each summer and offers a special partnership program for international institutions. 

UC Berkeley Extension

UC Berkeley Extension provides a variety of programs for international students.

International and Area Studies Academic Program

The International and Area Studies Academic Program provides interdisciplinary undergraduate majors and graduate degree programs in international and global issues. 

International and Area Studies Units

The Vice Chancellor of Research administers 9 interdisciplinary area research centers and institutes. These centers and institutes support contemporary and historical research on every region of the world.
