Freie Universität Berlin Erasmus+

The European Union (EU) has provided funding to UC Berkeley’s College of Letters and Science and Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) to increase graduate student researcher, faculty, and staff mobility between the institutions.

Erasmus+ grantees are selected based on a variety of factors, including academic merit, professional experience, and socio-economic status. This grant is also specifically focused on supporting international experiences for people who have not spent significant time abroad previously.

Funding covers the travel costs for the participant and provides a stipend while they are in-country for up to six months. This partnership is intended for research and/or faculty and staff training and does not include the opportunity to enroll in academic courses. An agreement has also been reached with the College of Letters and Science to cover the Visiting Scholar fee. Visiting FUB researchers would typically incur fees for these types of visits to UC Berkeley.

More information about Erasmus+ is available on the EU webpage.

For UC Berkeley faculty and staff, more detailed information regarding the partnership development process and benefits to UC Berkeley is available here (via Google Drive, CalNet ID required).
